Years at War Series by eristarisis
Part 1: Triwizard Warfare

Het Harry/Hermione, Harry/Fleur

Excellent1st of three in the series. There is action galore and beginning in the 2nd story sex. The characters are well fleshed out and behavior fits the world they belong in. That said they are also the most depressingly sad stories I have willingly read. I usually try to stay away from unless I am sure they have a happy ending. This one has a strange optimistic ending. It is a true depiction of war, good guys lose as often as they win, poor Harry never catches a break. That said this author is very, very good and makes no bones about writing a story where everyone dies. Well not everyone but close. It is a story about child soldiers doing the work that the adults failed at. About loss, betrayal, that forgiving an enemy can lead to a knife in your back and how sometimes love is just not enough. Good intentions can lead to bad consequences and sometimes your temper can be your own downfall. while they may not be my favorite type of story, they are some of the best I have read.

Angry Harry and The Seven (Harry/Daphne)

Angry Harry and The Seven by Sinyk

Excellent story of what would happen if Harry actually had some backup and knowledge when he enters Hogwarts. Harry has an eidetic memory and a temper after meeting with the Goblins he finds out that not only has he been stolen from but that he has a marriage contract with Daphne Greengrass. Things begin to change drastically from that as he learns more about who he is and his place in the world. Thanks to building alliances with the Longbottom and Bones family and his new in-laws he takes Dumbledore by surprise. All Dumbledore can do is watch as his plans for a Martyr Savior crumble around him.Harry begins to gather friends and allies around him and destroys the myth of the boy-who-lived and becomes the man, husband, and father he was always meant to be. The opening chapter grabs your attention and does not let go. The story as a little of everything and while some scenes are a little too dragged out the characterization is well done. The characters never loose momentum and while Harry is smart and powerful he is not super Harry.

I am what I am (Xander/Faith/Buffy)

I Am What Am I by MMcGregor
http://www.tthfanfic.org/Story-16860/MMcGregor+I+Am+What+I+Am.htm

Great story I do love a good time travel and this is a good one. The story opens with him talking to his daughter as he is preparing to go back and do it all again in order to prevent one of the loves of his life from being ripped from heaven. He knows this is the right thing to do and not everything will go his away. He has to live with knowledge that his beloved daughter may not be born and that he will have to live over the worst times of his life but it is worth it to prevent the end of the world.

The author does a good job with the flashbacks so you get an idea of how he became the man known as Protector Harris and just how he became involved with Faith and Buffy. After he slips up he decides not to hide anything because it did not work well the first time so why repeat it. The author describes him well near the end:

He was Xander Harris. Sometimes that meant he was the Zeppo, an under-achieving do-gooder. Sometimes it meant he was Protector Harris, an over-achieving world leader. Sometimes it meant he was Teacher, who passed on years of knowledge and wisdom to others, so that the world might be better served. Sometimes he was Daddy, who cared for no one as much as his baby girl, who was more confident now than ever that he would one day see his daughter again.
